This video began as a personal project for my father who in 2000 lost his right leg below the knee due to diabetes and restricted vascular circulation.
He has since become involved in the Amputee Support Group at Saint Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and is passionate about sharing and educating people about amputation. In his own words "I look at my amputation as a gift, it has allowed me to help others".
Once the video was completed, it was immediately realized how fundamental the information could be for anyone who has experienced, or who is anticipating an amputation, and possibly the turning point to a prosperous life after amputation.
The people in this video are themselves amputees, so their stories are personal, first hand and to say the least, inspirational. They have survived not only the physical challenges of what they have endured, but also the mental and emotional hurdles of losing a limb.
These amputees have adjusted to normal active life styles, and in some cases have accomplished goals even able-bodied people would struggle to achieve. Their determination and enthusiasm is miraculous and their stories remarkable.
This video is vital for family members, caregivers, and anyone who has experienced or is anticipating an amputation. Don't miss this video, it could change your life!
